Keratin Treatment

A keratin treatment is an in-salon smoothing treatment designed to reduce frizz, improve shine, and make hair easier to manage. Pure Brazilian describes it as a treatment that leaves hair smoother, shinier, sleeker, and faster to style, with results lasting up to 12 weeks or longer.

How it works

Pure Brazilian explains that the treatment works by filling in the hair cuticle and creating a layer of protein over the hair shaft. This helps smooth the cuticle, reduce frizz, improve softness and shine, and support healthier-looking hair overall.

It is especially helpful for dry, damaged, frizzy, or colour-treated hair, but it can also be used across a wide range of hair types and textures, including thick, fine, straight, curly, blonde, brunette, and chemically treated hair.

What happens during the treatment

  1. Clarify the hair: I will wash the hair with Pure Brazilian Anti-Residue Shampoo, leave it on for about 5 minutes, and repeat if needed until the hair feels squeaky clean.

  2. Apply the treatment: I will comb through each section with a fine-tooth comb to remove excess product and distribute it evenly.

  3. Blow-dry fully: Blow-dry the hair 100% dry.

  4. Flat iron to seal: I will flat iron in 2–3 inch sections the hair repeating multiple times (6-8 times), this stage is critical to ensure the treatment holds.

  5. Rinse hair: To end the process I will rinse hair for 5 minutes, and blow dry as usual.

After your treatment

One of the benefits of the Pure Brazilian treatment is that there is no long waiting period afterwards. The treatment is completed in around 90 minutes and can be washed out immediately, unlike some treatments that need to stay in the hair for up to three days.

After your appointment, your hair should feel smoother, shinier, and easier to style, with less frizz and reduced blow-drying time. Results can last for up to 12 weeks or longer, depending on your hair and ongoing care.

To help maintain your results for as long as possible, I recommend purchasing and using keratin-specific aftercare products at home, including your shampoo, conditioner, and styling products.
